Best Coffee Shops Near Washington Park Denver

The Washington Park neighborhood is an ideal family-friendly location with history, vibrant community, and gorgeous early 20th century brick homes. Due to its namesake Washington Park, the area includes plenty of outdoor areas with pristine landscaping, gardens, walking paths, and flower gardens. The historic South Gaylord Street in Wash Park provides restaurants, bars, boutiques and quaint storefronts. Washington Park, often compared to Manhattan’s Central Park minus the acreage, is a perfect escape from busy downtown Denver and offers tree-lined streets to admire during a morning jog or bike ride. Here are eight coffee shops in charming Wash Park that can help you get your day started.

Wash Perk, 853 E. Ohio Ave.

This excellent neighborhood spot is just a few blocks away from Washington Park and looks like a house from the outside. This down-to-earth coffee shop has been in the area for over seven years. Wash Perk provides a great work environment with many outlets and plenty of seating. Try their very own roast Alley Cat or a handcrafted hot drink like their cinnamon honey latte or delicious lavender marshmallow latte. For a bite to eat, try their pastries, breakfast burritos or gluten-free pastry options.

Devil’s Food Bakery & Cookery, 1004 S. Gaylord St.

Devil’s Food Bakery is divided into two spaces: the bakery and the cookery. For excellent coffee, tea, pastry, or cake, stop by the bakery, which provides an unpretentious farmhouse feel. Next door at the cookery, there are plenty of menu options for a sit down breakfast or brunch. Patrons love the fun atmosphere, friendly waiters, and of course the stellar selection of breakfast foods. Try a cornbread waffle, French toast, chicken and waffles, or eggs benedict. Make sure you come early because it gets busy.

Nixon’s Coffee House, 695 E. Louisiana Ave.

Created to be a place where coffee and the community intersect, Nixon’s Coffee House is one of the few establishments that offers kombucha on tap, and brews locally owned Kaladi coffee. Conveniently located just off the light rail, Nixon’s is fitted with industrial modern decor and has a large garage door often open to the fresh Colorado air. Try their honey and lavender latte, or delicious sandwich options made by Share Good Foods.

Overt/Vert, 704 S. Pearl St.

Slightly different than the other coffee spots on this list, Overt is a tiny hidden gem walk-up and has only been around for a couple of years. They serve coffee made from quality Huckleberry roaster beans and have pre-made sandwiches from their sister store Vert Kitchen. Overt offers no indoor seating, but has a darling outdoor patio to enjoy on a beautiful day. While this is not the place to come to stay awhile and work, they care about creating delicious coffee and providing a beautiful space to relax outside. Bonus: they offer a discount for local teachers.

Stella’s Gourmet Coffee and Such, 1476 S. Pearl St.

Since 1991, this local gem has been a place for coffee lovers to meet with friends or work and study. Stella’s is a cozy coffee house with art on the walls, stained glass, bookshelves and couches for lounging. It has the feel of an old house with hidden rooms for comfortable privacy. There is an outdoor fire pit, a patio where dogs are welcome and sometimes live music. Try their delicious house made chai selections, coffee roasted by Pablo’s Coffee, or a handcrafted latte with one of their syrups made from scratch.
